Parents Raising Safe Kids

The ACT Against Violence's Parents Raising Safe Kids (PRSK) Parenting Program was created by the American Psychological Association and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The PRSK Program was designed as a research-based violence prevention program and focuses on the importance of early prevention. The base of PRSK is that adults are the role models that children learn from. Adults need to know, show by example and teach children how to handle their anger appropriately and utilize social problem solving skills.

The PRSK program focuses on the stages of early childhood development along with the primary topic of how young children learn violence, social problem solving, anger management, effective discipline and media violence.

The PRSK Program is presented in two ways. PVFF holds annual Train-the-Trainer trainings locally and by request in other communities. Since 2004, 127 individuals from within our community and from across the state have participated. Also, the 8-week parenting program has been presented to many audiences including Help Me Grow families, inmates at the Allen Correctional Institution and students attending Early Childhood Education Classes at Apollo Career Center.
